Leica 4x Wideangle Zoom
The Lumix S3 uses Leica's unique expertise in compact lens design to deliver this 4x wide angle zoom range in such a compact body. The Leica DC Vario optic has an equivalent zoom range of 28-112mm, incorporating wide angle, ideal for indoor shots, architecture and landscapes. The Extra Optical Zoom facility also uses the central portion of the image to obtain 8.4x zoom with 3 megapixel resolution.

The Lumix S3 has a 14 megapixel image sensor for fine, crisp image quality, even under considerable enlargement.
MEGA O.I.S.
The MEGA O.I.S. (optical image stabiliser) mechanically compensates for any camera shake, without affecting image quality, giving extra shooting ability in low light and extended zoom settings.
Intelligent Auto
The Intelligent Auto (iA) mode combines MEGA O.I.S. with Intelligent ISO control, Face Detection AF/AE, AF Tracking and Intelligent Scene Selector. All picture information is analysed by these technologies and the camera then sets itself for the best possible image quality. Intelligent Exposure also ensures the best balance of brightness for your subject and background.
HD Movies
The DMC-S3 records movies in 720p HD quality at 30 frames per second for smooth action. Recording format is Motion JPEG. You can tag your movies for instant upload to YouTube and do the same for still images you'd like to send to your Facebook profile. |
